What it’s like working in our team…
You will be working in a department which functions as an in-house service IT team, working closely alongside colleagues from Infrastructure, Servers, Desktop and Application Support teams and changing how support services, including IT, are delivered.
This role supports a customer base of 4000+ now including staff, suppliers, Council members and schools.
The role contributes to the resolutions of over 26,000 incidents, service and work requests per year as well as working on key change and delivery projects.

The Senior Network Officer role consists of the following duties including maintaining and supporting network infrastructure. You will have a good understanding of networks and other related technologies covering WAN, LAN, firewall, network monitoring, IP telephony, and internet. Telephony solutions including CISCO Call Manager, Microsoft Teams and Call Centre solutions. Firewalls including Fortigate and Palo Alto. Switching, routing and wireless set-up and administration. Configuration support for Cisco Nexus, 2960, 3850 and 9000 family switches. Assistance in migration from in-house server platforms to Azure cloud-hosted primary and recovery networks. Assistance in migration from in-house Call Manager to cloud-hosted telephony systems. You will be responsible for TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, remote access VPN, managing, maintaining and monitoring the server environment using SolarWinds and other network monitoring tools.

This role requires strong customer focus, excellent interpersonal skills along with a keen interest in improving the ICT support function in addition to excellent organisational, technical and analytical skills to enable high quality, robust support for its customers as well as contributing to changing technologies. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with diplomacy, influencing skills and a thorough appreciation and understanding of the technology used by our customers.
