General Support Assistant (GSA)

Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed General Support Assistant to join their dynamic team. The support staff at Wooden Hill School have specific roles, which enhance the learning by supporting a particular aspect of teaching and learning. Support staff are no longer expected to cram many things into their day’s work, with the frustration of feeling that it’s had little impact, but instead have clear and precise job descriptions and a sense of satisfaction of a job well done, knowing that they have made a difference.

This is a varied role with no two days the same; where the successful candidate will work with individuals and small groups of children, from across the school. It may be going over something which the children have done in class that morning or it may be pre-teaching ahead of the class learning and is predominately to ensure that all children keep up with the class learning. We are currently also recruiting for a Reading Support Assistant, therefore if the successful candidate, is only appointed to this post, they will also be required to work at lunchtime assisting in the smooth running of our lunch breaks and if appointed to both posts, hours will be adjusted to allow a 30 minute lunch break.

12.00pm – 3.30pm Monday – Friday. term time only

Closing date: 22nd February 2019

Interviews: 26th / 27th February 2019

We can offer you:

  • a permanent contract
  • a large, strong, committed and supportive staff team
  • happy and enthusiastic children who are eager to learn
  • an exciting opportunity to contribute to a visionary and forward thinking school in its journey of growth

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people, and expects all staff to share this commitment. These posts are subject to a satisfactory DBS enhanced disclosure certificate.
