We are seeking to appoint an experienced, well organised, skilled and professional person to be our Site Controller upon the retirement of current incumbent who has been with us for over 20 years. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and be able to carry out high standards of premises care and maintenance, with a positive proactive attitude to health and safety for the whole school community and a solution focused outlook. The Site Controller is responsible for the supervision and security of the site, including dealing with out-of-hours emergencies. Applicants are expected to evidence good “DIY” skills, initiative, common sense and the ability to work independently. Good verbal and written, IT and communication skills are also necessary together with physical fitness.
The Site Controller reports to the School Business Manager.
This post is subject to the Bracknell Forest Site Controllers Scheme which means that in return for heavily subsidised accommodation, the post holder is required to work up to 30 hours extra per calendar month for the salary paid. Overtime has to be agreed in advance and will only be paid once the extra 30 hours have been worked. Some Saturdays will need to be worked and for this no overtime will be paid. Please ensure that you read the Site Controllers Scheme and are aware of the requirements before applying for this role.

- Is able to demonstrate knowledge of health, safety and hygiene procedures and precautions
- Is aware of COSHH regulations, applying knowledge gained as appropriate.
- Can demonstrate good communication skills with all types of stakeholders
- Can demonstrate previous experience and “DIY” skills to identify, monitor and carry out minor repairs, maintenance and redecoration
- Will have experience of managing external contractors on site
- Will have the ability to prioritise their workload and will be able to demonstrate high standards and expectations along with a can-do attitude.

Hours : 39 hours per week (37 plus 2 hours overtime) Monday – Friday (Saturday as required) plus an extra 30 hours per month for the salary quoted (approximately 7 hours per week).
Holidays: Annual leave (taken in school holidays) – 22 days per year, 27 after 5 years’ service.
Start Date: Required to start Monday 25th February 2019 with a shadowed handover until 29 March 2019. Full role responsibility commences on 30th March 2019.

Pre–employment medical check
You may be asked about your physical ability to perform the job during interview. As a condition of the Offer of Employment, the successful applicant will be asked to complete an Occupational Health questionnaire from which our Occupational Health Advisor will assess your medical suitability to do the job.
