We are looking for a passionate Senior Science Technician to join our growing Science department from September.
The successful candidate will be part of a technical team of two, supporting the Science department as it grows. This role will work directly with the technical team and closely with the Director of Science to support the Science team to deliver an engaging and varied practical curriculum.
The successful candidate will have a background in science and / or experience of working within a secondary school science department. Experience of working within a school environment is desirable although not essential.
The role primarily involves supporting the Science department by overseeing and monitoring stock levels, preparation of equipment and chemicals for experiments and supporting the science team in the delivery of student experiments and demonstrations. The Senior Science technician will share the academy's vision and the belief that all young people can achieve. Other necessary qualities include confidentiality, efficiency and being able to work on your own initiative and under pressure and a willingness to contribute to the wider life of King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) and King’s Academy Oakwood (KAO).
KAB opened in a superb building in September 2018 with 120 Year 7 students. In September 2019 a further 140 Year 7 students, 30 Year R students and 21 Year N students joined the academy. Also in September 2019, KAO, a brand new 1 FE primary school a mile away, opened with Year R and a mixed Year 1/2. KAB and KAO will continue to grow year on year to a roll of over 1800 students, aged 3-18. Both academies will be run cohesively sharing the same values, curriculum, opportunities and expectations of excellence.
The post is for 35 hours per week (term time only). Hours of work will be 8.30am – 16:00 pm Monday to Friday. Flexibility to work additional days during the holidays may be required, as well as supporting outside of these hours for events such as open evenings
