Birch Hill Primary School is looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) to join our friendly hard working team of HLTAs. Our HLTAs work with teachers and senior leaders to organise and support teaching and learning activities for classes. The primary focus is to do specified work with individuals, groups and whole classes under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher. This role is PE and sport focussed and would suit an individual interested in delivering sport and PE and covering classes. A coaching qualification would be an advantage.
The role will be varied and interesting, with no two days the same. The HLTA will work with whole classes, covering planning time and short term teacher absence, and groups of children as well as working with individual children. This is an ideal role for someone thinking about going into teaching and could be a stepping stone into teacher training for the right candidate.
The school is a two form entry primary with a Nursery. In addition we have a KS2 Inclusion class (8 places MLD/ASD), which is linked to the local Special School – Kennel Lane. The school is well resourced and has extensive outside space and a Nurture provision. There are currently 400 children on roll.
Birch Hill Primary has just been judged Good in our Ofsted report (October 2019).

The successful candidate will have experience of covering whole classes within the primary age range and be a positive and proactive member of the team. They will be cheerful and positive with a can-do attitude.
The school is located in the Birch Hill estate which is on the outskirts of Bracknell town and is within very easy access of many amenities. The 'Look Out’ environmental area, Bracknell Sports Centre and Swimming Pool, the Berkshire Racquets and Health Club, the South Hill Park Theatre & Arts Centre are all well within walking distance with skating, skiing, bowling, cinemas and a leisure pool nearby.

Pre–employment medical check
You may be asked about your physical ability to perform the job during interview. As a condition of the Offer of Employment, the successful applicant will be asked to complete an Occupational Health questionnaire from which our Occupational Health Advisor will assess your medical suitability to do the job. You may be required to attend a medical examination.

If you are not currently working with children/adults at risk but have done so in the past it is important that a reference is obtained from the employer by whom you were most recently employed working with children/adults at risk.
Employment references must be provided by your current or most recent line manager and will not be accepted from relatives or people writing solely in the capacity of friends. However, your referees may include someone you know with standing in the community i.e. a teacher, vicar etc.
