King's Group Academies

King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) opened in a superb new building in September 2018 with 120 year 7 students, who were joined in September 2019 by a further 150 year 7 students and nursery and reception classes. Also in 2019, King’s Academy Oakwood (KAO), a one-form entry primary school a mile away opened. The academy will grow year on year to a roll of over 1800 students, aged 3-18. Both academies are run cohesively sharing the same leadership, staff, values, curriculum, opportunities, expectations of excellence and governance.

This is a key role providing administrative and procedural advice to the Local Governing Body (LGB), reporting to the Chair of Governors.

This vital position ensures the effectiveness of the LGB by meeting the administrative and procedural requirements and enabling the board to have successful discussions.

Primarily the clerk is responsible for preparing agendas in consultation with the Executive Principal and the Chair of Governors; taking and writing up the minutes at Governors’ meetings, and distributing documentation and other information to the LGB. The Clerk will also need to become familiar with the King’s Group Academies Scheme of Delegation, DfE’s Governance Handbook, and provide accurate advice to Governors as necessary.

There are usually five meetings of the full LGB per year but attendance at ad hoc committee meetings may be required e.g. Complaints, Pay etc. LGB meetings are usually held at 5pm and last approximately two hours.

The successful candidate will also be expected to attend two termly briefing sessions held by the Local Authority which are held during the working day and also take advantage of other training sessions that may be offered.

Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills are essential. The job requires someone who is a good communicator, who works well on their own using their own initiative and as part of a team.
