Personal Assistant / Respite Support Worker

We are seeking to employ a Personal Assistant to provide respite support for a young person with complex additional needs. The role is for 6–12 hours per week, offered flexibly across weekdays, weekends and school holidays. The hourly rate is £14.14 per hour.

The successful applicant will provide one-to-one support in the home and community, supporting engagement in meaningful activities and ensuring the young person’s safety, wellbeing, and comfort at all times.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing individual support and supervision

• Supporting access to community and outdoor activities

• Supporting engagement in play and structured activities within the home

• Assisting with personal care, delivered with dignity and respect

• Following agreed care plans and routines

• Maintaining a safe and supportive environment

The role requires someone who is patient, reliable, compassionate, and able to build a positive and professional working relationship. Applicants should be comfortable supporting an individual who is energetic with high support needs, and should be able to respond appropriately to communication and behavioural cues.

Essential requirements:

• A caring and respectful approach

• Ability to work flexibly, including some weekends

• Willingness to undertake personal care tasks

• Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality

Desirable (but not essential):

• Previous experience in care, support work, or a related role

• Availability to provide occasional morning support for school preparation 

• Understanding of disability and inclusive support

Successful applicants will be required to undertake appropriate checks, including an Enhanced DBS, and provide suitable references.
