Smiles for Sibs Sessional Playworker: Bracknell

Reporting to: Wokingham Smiles for Sibs Coordinator (directly) & the Chief Executive

Purpose of job: To assist in the provision of activities for children aged 8-13 in a safe and stimulating environment

Hours: Average 2 hours per week

Club hours 4.30pm – 6.15pm Thursdays (term time) plus setting up and clearing away.

Location: Braybrooke Community Hall, Makepiece road, Bracknell, RG42 2HG or other locations including at home as required

Salary: £7.55 per hour (for 16–18-year-olds)

Duties to include:

  •  To ensure adequate supervision of activities
  • To help to set up the room and to help tidy away at the end of the session
  • To support all aspects of Promise Inclusion’s policies on Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding Children
  • To be aware and meet the needs of individual children
  • To maintain communication with parents and carers
  • Any other duties as required

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative
  • Good communicator
  • Understanding of (and commitment to meeting) the needs of people with learning disability, and their families
  • Experience of working with children
  • Good team player
  • Empathy with client group
