Bracknell Forest Council

Play your part in the effective delivery of the council’s Public Health service and Covid response, ensuring that residents and staff are kept safe, improving their health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities.

We want Bracknell Forest to be the one of the healthiest place to live, work, study and play, providing all the residents with the opportunities to be happy and healthy. We will achieve this by taking a health in all policies approach with a focus on reducing health inequalities and as part of the Public Health Team you will be central to achieving this vision.

Because we’re Bracknell Forest.

What it’s like working in our team…

We are a small but ambitious public health team that are not only supported within our organisation but by the wider East Berkshire Public Health system.  We are extremely agile and receptive to change but team members really feel inspired within their roles to deliver and can clearly see the difference they are making to our local residents and customers.

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training…

  • will provide an epidemiology data and intelligence function to enable a full understanding of health needs in the area, addressing health inequalities, determining priorities for action and assisting in the understanding of the wider wellbeing needs of the local population.
  • will lead on the development and production of specific Needs Assessments and information products, as determined by the business needs of the Public Health team and other services across the council.
  • will consider all aspects of data management and analysis, such as data access, storage, data quality and information governance.
  • will be expected to communicate and explain complex data clearly and accurately, enabling diverse audiences to understand the key messages.
  • The post will also have a specific focus on the COVID-19 outbreak control (prevention, surveillance, and response) work-stream, collaborating with the Berkshire Shared Public Health Data team leading on the implementation of COVID-19 data products and processes.

The benefits you will experience are…

  • Making a difference to the health and wellbeing of all of those living, working and visiting Bracknell Forest.
  • Regular opportunities for development with internal and external training courses.
  • An inclusive and social working environment.
  • Internal sports and social club opportunities.
  • Discounted leisure centre and gym membership.
  • An interest free loan for a rail season ticket.

What we’re looking for…

A Public Health specialist with knowledge and experience of statistical and analytical techniques used in Public Health, which are relevant to the analysis and interpretation of large health data sets; substantial experience of health information analysis, in the health service, local authority, academic or related field; and knowledge and expertise in principles of data management, data quality, data security and information governance within a local government and health setting.

A self motivated individual with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail is key and excellent organisational skills are essential.

Knowledge of MapInfo and geodemographic segmentation systems, SPSS, R or other statistical packages relevant to analyses of large health data is also desirable.

Interview date

Interviews will be held on 28th June 2021.
