We are seeking to appoint a talented individual to the post of Senior Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Rise@GHC, a specialist resource provision for learners with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and other related special educational needs from September 2021 on a fixed term basis.  The centre is part of Garth Hill College but operates in dedicated buildings within a fifteen minute walk and two minute drive of the main Garth Hill site. We have recently been rated ‘good’ by OFSTED (May 2019).

The successful candidate will be highly competent in identifying and implementing individualised support plans, in conjunction with the pupil and family, which promote inclusion and independence. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute effectively to the work of the multi-disciplinary team, including delivering agreed therapy programmes.

The role involves working with the teachers, taking responsibility for agreed learning activities, involving planning, preparing and delivering learning to individuals, groups and whole classes, including class cover supervision as required. 

The successful candidates will be educated to Level 3 (two GCE ‘A’ Level passes) and possess Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics (GCSE Grade C or higher or equivalent). Prospective candidates are advised to study the person specification and job description for this post carefully.

Pre–employment medical check

You may be asked about your physical ability to perform the job during interview. As a condition of the Offer of Employment, the successful applicant will be asked to complete an Occupational Health questionnaire from which our Occupational Health Advisor will assess your medical suitability to do the job. If you are not currently working with children/adults at risk but have done so in the past it is important that a reference is obtained from the employer by whom you were most recently employed working with children/adults at risk.

Employment references must be provided by your current or most recent line manager and will not be accepted from relatives or people writing solely in the capacity of friends. However, your referees may include someone you know with standing in the community i.e. a teacher, vicar etc.
